Golf and an Ultimate Tournament in Paradise!

On our last day at the resort in Hawaii we took advantage of their amazing golf courses and good deals on golfing.  After being informed of our lack of dress attire we changed up and threw on some polo shirts and closed toe shoes.... darn etiquette sports!  But yea, we dressed up nice!

We totally have this sport down before we even started!

Sometimes we ventured off course.  But some famous poet once said "I take the fairway less traveled"... right?

Turtle bay resort!  Sometimes we ended up off the beaten path a little... has this ever happened before?  Not raking this up.

And, in the end, we decided a few shots should head into the ocean... our first hole in ones!  Well, hole in two for Sarah ;)

On to the best location in the world to have an ultimate tournament.  Camping on the beach and an amazing mountain back drop behind the fields!  To open the tournament they had some native dancers come out and welcome everyone as well as perform some ritual dances.  At the end a helicopter flew in and dropped thousands of flowers on us all to commence the tournament!  Awesome.  Put a flower in your left ear if you want to be left alone... and your right for go right ahead and chat me up!  Ah, youngins and their dating.

We picked up with teams from Seattle that had some extra spots.  The first picture below is me and X, one of the five brothers who started the clothing company (Five Ultimate) that makes the jerseys we have on.  Great dude.

This is Elijah a fellow Iowa Hawkeye Alumni.  He is now an ER doctor in minneapolis... hence how he can afford flying to Hawaii for awesome ultimate tournaments :)

Our team had tandem skis that we flew out to the tournament to be a fun game to play with each team after the ultimate game.  One player from each team would boot in and race another set of players from another team.  Good times.

Stay tuned for the next adventure from Sarah and Alex... GUAM!!!!

Hawaii Adventures - Hike, Pearl Harbor and Waikiki

Even though we decided not to stay there, we did hit up Waikiki one day to see what it had in store for us.  First, however, we needed to get a hike in to explore the jungles where LOST and Jurassic Park were partially filmed.  Awesome.

There were definitely a few Jurassic Park like creatures along the way.  This guy is about the length of my foot.

Luckily, he was dead.  The end of this hike was a beautiful waterfall.  There were three spots to jump off of... one easy and two pretty darn hard to get to.  I went for the harder one... it was only a 30 foot jump dad!  And everyone else was doing it!  :)

:)

LOST in the jungle, pun intended.

After the hike we headed to Pearl Harbor for a quick tour around.  It was pretty sweet.  Here are a few photos from that.  Respect to the grandpas, given!

"I expect and demand your very best. Anything less, you should have joined the Air Force. "  or maybe I said...  " Short of the outbreak of World War Three, the ship sinking... being attacked by a giant octopus, I'd like to be undisturbed for the next thirty minutes. "

Or just take your favorite Captain Ramsey quote from Crimson Tide and insert above :)

Sky Rockets in Flight----- Afternoon Delight!  Speaking of delight, after pearl harbor we headed to Waikiki beach area to check it out.  Yep, it pretty much was Chicago put in Hawaii... but that means some sweet restaurants.  We grabbed some sushi and it was AMAZING.

The Sheraton had some pretty cool views like this one that is one of those infinity pools.

And don't forget the sweet advertisements for people who can't go on vacation without shooting their guns!  (Logan we're marketing at you here...)

Well that about wraps up our adventure this day in Hawaii.  Next up?  A few pictures from the Ultimate Frisbee tournament we went to on our honeymoon :)

Nature Photos Hawaii Part 2

Here are a few more nature photos we got in Hawaii...

Pretty flower...

Pretty Bird...  actually these are wild parrots that were squeaking away above our resort bedroom.  Pretty awesome.

An amazing hawaiian sunset.

Until the next adventure from Alex and Sarah V
